Testimonials
"One of a kind projects are complex and require active  management, attention to the finest details and continual oversight. You not only exceeded my expectations but  were priced competitively as well. In the final analysis there are many good builders but few with your sense of integrity in both good and difficult times."

"Chuck has been accommodating and patient throughout the building process as well as dealing comfortably with the bureaucracy that is inevitably associated with institutional projects
. His ability to organize his subcontractors and produce timely results has been impeccable. This along with his willingness to cooperate with our architect to provide cost-effective alternatives, has proven to be his greatest asset....I do not hesitate in any way to recommend Chuck Millard to you as a contractor capable of managing multi-million dollar projects with great skill."
James B. Gubelmann,

"The team at Charles Millard, Inc., is fabulous. The process of building a home can be daunting, and I had never taken on a project that was at once so complex, yet so personal. Chuck was a comfort from our first meeting.  He listened, educated and enabled us to make all the right decisions at each stage of  construction, keeping us on track and on budget, all while we lived and worked many states away. The quality, attention to detail and craft throughout the house makes it a home. I would do it all again, knowing that the uncompromising professional standard of Charles E. Millard, Inc. was my partner in the process.

"I first met Chuck Millard and his team about 15 years ago when I needed help rescuing a property in dire need of reconstruction. Their carpenters and subs completed our renovations with the utmost quality and care. My wife and I therefore thought of no one else when we recently built a new home for our children near our property. Again, the project was a great success and we are especially pleased with the quality of workmanship and caring attitude of the team who performed the work. The can-do attitude of the job foreman and care to detail are special and we firmly endorse Charles E. Millard, Inc."

We first met Chuck Millard in 1995 when we were about to embark on an ambitious yet sensitive addition to The Francis Malbone House, our 1760's Newport inn.  Well, the team from Charles E. Millard, Inc. did not disappoint. During what proved to be one of the harshest winters in memory, they completed the project in a timely fashion and, as promised, we were able to welcome guests to our 6,00-square foot addition
in time for the summer high season.

Our guests consistently remark on the incredible and meticulous work which has created a seamless transition from the 1760's to the 1990's. Since that time, Charles E. Millard, Inc. has completed two other commercial restoration projects for us, a 1750's Colonial and a 1912 gut restoration and conversion to what became Hilltop Inn, also in Newport.  In each case the projects were completed on time and on budget.  On a personal note, Chuck and his team have also done four residential projects for us.  The craftsmanship always been excellent, and they work closely with our architects to solve problems, often suggesting more economical solutions.

My partner and I have very high expectations -- we pride ourselves in our attention to detail and strong
design sense.  Chuck and his entire team, including Dean, Jimmy, and Dave to name just a few, have
always been so patient and respectful in giving us their all.  A true friendship has developed.
We highly recommend and endorse this team of craftsmen.

"As the days of this project go by, I am more and more appreciative of the quality of your team's work and the beauty of what we will enjoy for years to come. I am so glad to be working with you all and to have established such a nice relationship with such good people. Doesn't happen every day!"
